This Christmas season, ilé Àbò – Our Place had the privilege of bringing joy to children in our community by providing Christmas gifts during an annual holiday celebration for refugee families in Pittsburgh. This gathering was more than a party, it was an intentional space that reflects our mission of belonging, care, and community.

We sought to create an environment filled with warmth, laughter, connection and a place where children and families could feel welcomed and celebrated. The donated gifts were more than presents; they were tangible reminders that these young people are seen, valued, and supported as they build new lives and identities in a new home.

We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve and to witness moments that bring smiles to children’s faces and joy to their families’ hearts. Being part of moments like this helps us build a stronger, more compassionate community...a place where every young person feels at home.
